The Astrology of Surgery
Elective surgery is a common question I get. To find the best astrological time which will ensure the best surgical skills, minimize complications, and give the best over all results. The planets have a subtle effect on all of us, at different times and different ways, various ethereal energies are influencing us all. When a major event such as an operation is considered, ensuring the best results is vital.
How can we look at an astrological chart to determine surgical success? The focus in this is generally on the Moon’s movement through the houses (transits) and the Nakshatras (constellations). Of course during an emergency situation surgery is performed regardless of astrological placements.
Tuesday and Saturday are the best days for surgery. Mars (Tuesday) is the planet of surgery and Saturn (Saturday) is the planet of disease.
Surgery should be done in the period of the month known as Shukla Paksha (Waxing Moon). That is while the moon is increasing in size from the new moon to the full moon. Surgery should never be performed on Purnima (Full Moon)
Avoid a first house transit. The Moon should not be in the Moon Rashi- the Moon sign at birth. For example, if your Moon in your birth chart is in Libra (7), avoid surgery when the Moon is transiting Libra in this case the first house transit.
Do not operate on a body part represented by the sign Moon is transiting. For example, Virgo (6) represents the abdomen, so you should avoid abdominal surgery when the Moon is transiting Virgo.
Mars should be strong.
The eighth house should be unaffected by malefics.
Moon should be in a sharp Nakshatras, which are Ardra (6), Ashlesha (9), Jyeshta (18), and Moola (19).
The house representing the body parts should be strong. For example, if gallbladder surgery is considered, the fifth house should be strong.
Avoid Saturn and Mars mutual aspect
Surgery is best on the 4, 9, and 14th lunar day.
